The 76th Tony Award winners have been announced at a ceremony at the United Palace in New York City, and for the first time it was unscripted, due to a strike by the Writer's Guild of America.
The awards honor plays and musicals that opened on Broadway between April, 2022, and April, 2023. The awards for design were announced in an early ceremony hosted by Julianne Hough and Skylar Astin.
Live Design spoke to two of the nominees about their work:
- Tim Lutkin, who won the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design for a Play for Life of Pi
- Bradley King, lighting designer for Fat Ham
Prima Facie, Suzie Miller's one-woman show starring Jodie Comer, is nominated for four awards including lighting by Natasha Chivers and sound design by brothers Ben and Max Ringham.
