League of Legends is now 10 years old

Esports Comedy Scores Put Pilot Order at CBS

Dan Kopelman will write and executive produce. Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor of Kapital Entertainment will also executive produce along with Rick Fox. Warner Bros. Television, where Kopelman is under an overall deal, will serve as the studio.

 

Axe sponsors League of Legends esports in multi-year deal

The multi-year sponsorship will see Axe named as the official men’s grooming partner of League of Legends’ global events: Mid-Season InvitationalWorld Championship, and All-Star Event.

Blizzard bans a college esports team for holding a "Free Hong Kong, Boycott Blizz" sign

Video game company Activision Blizzard suspended three American University esports players for six months after they held up a "Free Hong Kong, boycott Blizz" sign during their championship match last week.

They now cannot compete in official or third-party Blizzard events.

The three students were acting in solidarity with a Hong Kong player, Ng "blitzchung" Wai Chung, who was banned for six months by Blizzard and disqualified from the "Hearthstone" Grandmasters tournament last week after he shouted a pro-Hong Kong slogan. The company was met with outrage from gamers and calls for boycotts.

LoL Esports Manager is Riot’s first experiment in the sports-manager genre of games, which is primarily dominated by the likes of Sports Interactive’s Football Manager, a game that has a new installment drop year after year that people sink hundreds of hours into. Effectively, the player gets to act as manager of a professional football club without controlling the actual in-game action.
