Metropolis LEDs At The Darli Bar

Metropolis AV has supplied its Met3 LED lighting for an installation at the Darli Bar in Warrington, UK, to illuminate two glass walls in the newly opened art-house bar.

Owner Paul Bond had experimented with a few LED brands, but choose Metropolis LEDs because of their brightness, the quality of light output, and the fact that Metropolis can provide a bespoke service as well as off the shelf products, he says.

The glass block walls are both 7m long and run ceiling to floor along the back of the venue’s two bar serving areas. They are both lit with 10 strips of 600mm, 75mm pitch unlensed Met3 strips, complete with Met3 PSUs.

The strips are located at the top and bottom of the walls, flooding up and downwards for even coverage. Metropolis also supplied a 20 scene programmable and selectable controller. The LEDs are set to a rainbow chase as standard, but Bond can change patterns or colors as he wishes.

The Darli Bar’s décor is minimalist but warm with bold colors on the walls, and the new LED lighting scheme helps emphasize the bar/dance club’s lively feel. “It’s great being able to change the whole mood of the place with a shift in color,” says Bond, who has had much positive local feedback about the installation.

Metropolis turned the job around in three weeks, including the installation, so the lit walls were ready for Darli’s opening night.
