Evangel Cathedral Installs 10 HES DL.2s

High End Systems (HES) lighting and control equipment comprise the centerpiece of production at Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, MD.

The church recently installed 10 DL.2™ Digital Lights to project onto a 76-foot cyc to enhance their worship services. This is the largest permanent installation of DL.2 fixtures to date. They also added an Axon™ Media Server to manager their media content. Though DL.2 already features an on-board media server, Axon is compatible with DL.2.

The install complements their existing HES equipment of 10 Cyberlight Turbos, 44 x.Spots, and a Wholehog 3 console.

The DL.2 install actually started at LDI 2006. Koster Design of Branson, MO, brought Evangel’s LD Bryan Meares to High End’s booth to view the demo of the DL.2 Collage Generator™ software feature. Excited about the possibilities, they then brought Bishop Don Meares to an HES Open House on the East Coast, who loved the idea of DL.2s in his church. Koster Design then purchased the gear through Creative Stage Lighting of North Creek, NY.

Evangel Cathedral’s LD/lighting director Bryan Meares says, “We do many large scale productions throughout the year and the DL.2s are a great complement to our existing inventory. Everyone I worked with on this project was a complete pro. The installation, setup and programming went great and we could not be happier with our purchase. Koster Design was superb to work with, as always.”

Koster Design’s Senior Manager Mike Gormley says, “We have provided a complete turnkey installation, which also included an on-site certified DL.2 tech as well as DL.2 programmer, Scott Chmielewski, who is highly touted by High End Systems. This project will yield amazing visual results via the DL.2’s Collage Generator™ software feature. We are very happy to have been chosen by Evangel Cathedral to make this happen.”

Says designer Kelly Koster, “With the power, technology, and capabilities of the DL.2s and the Axon media server, we have provided a product to our client that is second to none.”
