Project Management Boot Camp for Entertainment Managers, Part One: Initiating A Project

LDI’s Project Management Boot Camp presents several proven templates that will improve your ability to track and manage any size project. Taught by Rohan Garricks, a trained project manager, practicing educator, and a 20-plus year entertainment management practitioner, the LDI2018 course demonstrates the use of several tools and techniques to assist you with managing your projects in a more systematic way, resulting in increased success. The principles taught are immediately applicable and will result in an increased level of control over all aspects of your projects. It will also show how to assess your progress and alter your approach to keep projects on budget and on time at the prescribed level of quality.

Session 1, Initiating A Project, discusses the following:

  • What is a project?
  • Learn the steps involved in initiating a project in a way that makes what will be considered success clear to all involved.
  • What are the formal steps in a project and why are they important to identify especially in managing the triple constraint of time, cost and quality?
  • Gather project requirements.
  • How to define and develop a complete project scope, applicable to any project (large or small, in any industry)?
  • How to identify, and quantify the inevitable risks and opportunities that are associated with all projects via a risk assessment matrix?
