Scharff Weisberg's Moving Lights Add Pop To Boston Pops

Scharff Weisberg is supporting lighting designer Alan Adelman in his work with the Boston Pops by furnishing him with an extensive lighting complement, including a large Vari-Lite automated lighting package designed to enhance the celebrated orchestra's performances.

"The Boston Pops are expanding their production to inject new visual elements into the Pops experience," says Adelman. "In addition to three independently-controlled screens with Dataton Watchout which the Pops have purchased to enable them to show video images, the automated lighting package from Scharff Weisberg gives more production value to their shows."

Adelman has numerous credits as a lighting designer, including Bad Boys of Comedy, DEF Poets, and DEF Comedy Jam for HBO, live concerts with Eminem and Jay Z for Showtime, and over 70 programs for both the Great Performances and Live from Lincoln Center series on PBS.

Scharff Weisberg's automated lighting package consists of Vari-Lite VL1000s, VL2500 washes, VL3000 spots, and VL3500 framing spots plus Martin MAC 2000 Performances. Conventional lights supplied include PAR20s, ETC Source Four PARs, 6' MR16 Striplights, and ETC Sensor dimmers. Scharff Weisberg also supplied two High End Wholehog 2 consoles for lighting control.

"We value our Boston Clientele and can provide full local style support for any of our national clients doing work in Boston or Boston clients looking for new equipment and better service," comments Scharff Weisberg Lighting's vice president of sales, Chris McMeen. John Ellars is the production electrician, and Russ Costa is the house PM for the Boston Pops.
