Scott M. Chester, CTS, and Gonzalo J. Rodriguez, CTS-D, have joined RTKL Associates Inc., as designers for the firm’s Audio-Visual Design Group, which provides audio-visual (AV) design, development and engineering services to facilities around the world.
“With constant changes in the industry, it is imperative that we maintain cutting edge ideas,” says Tony Warner, CTS-D, CDT, director of AV design at RTKL. “With Scott and Gonzalo’s combined experience the AV Design Group will continue to design innovative projects on a global level.”
Chester, who joins the firm with nine years of experience in commercial music and sound production, theatre sound production as well as audiovisual systems contracting, incorporates his strong background in audio engineering and acoustics into design problems in order to maintain the innovative philosophy of the group. An accredited Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), he has worked on numerous notable AV system designs for such clients as Baltimore Convention Center Hotel in Baltimore and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield, Texas.
Prior to joining RTKL, Chester worked as a senior sales engineer and project manager for an audiovisual contractor involved in government, corporate and music performance sectors. He was also previously employed by REP Studio in Ithaca, NY, where he served as an assistant engineer.
He received his master’s degree in acoustics and audio from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in 2005, and earned a bachelor’s degree in audio engineering from Ithaca College in 2001. He is a member of several professional organizations, including InfoComm International, Independent Consultants in Audiovisual Technology (ICAT) Council, Audio Engineering Society and Acoustical Society of America.
Joining the firm as audio-visual designer, Rodriguez specializes in audio system design and acoustics. His portfolio of work includes Health Alliance Hospital, where he served as audio-visual systems designer for this 370,000-square-foot healthcare facility; and Central DuPage Hospital, where he also served as audio visual systems designer for this 264,000-square-foot facility. Previous projects include Center for the Arts at Towson University in Towson, Md.; Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.; Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.; and Lucent Technologies Center for the Arts in Newark, N.J.
Prior to joining RTKL, Rodriguez served as designer and project manager for Maryland Sound & Image.
Rodriguez received his master’s degree in acoustics from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in 2000, and earned his bachelor’s degree in audio technology from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1998. An accredited Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D), he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Audio Engineering Society and InfoComm International.
