Jeff Ravitz Receives A Pacific Southwest Emmy For A Salute To Teachers Awards

A Salute To Teachers

Lighting designer, Jeff Ravitz of LA-based Intensity Advisors, was the recipient of the Emmy for Outstanding Lighting Design from the Pacific Southwest Chapter of NATAS, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The accolade was for Ravitz’s lighting design of the 2013 awards program, A Salute To Teachers, and was presented during a ceremony that took place in La Costa, CA on June 14. He has been honored with the award three previous times for the annual production.

The show is broadcast live-to-air from the beautifully restored Balboa Theatre in San Diego and is approached as a classy black tie and gown awards program. There are several musical performances interspersed throughout the evening, “which allows us to indulge in a wide spectrum of lighting styles,” says Ravitz. “It’s an honor to be recognized for a show that we love doing, and especially one that pays tribute to our dedicated and talented teachers.”

Ravitz recently designed a concert scene for the upcoming John Chu movie, Jem And The Holograms, as well as the pilot for a new game show. He is currently consulting on the broadcast lighting for a Jimmy Buffett concert special to be simulcast to drive-in theaters nationwide on Thursday, June 19.
