Glimmerglass Opera Appoints Director Of Public Relations

Glimmerglass Opera has appointed a new director of public relations. Brittany Lesavoy, who has been serving as Glimmerglass Opera’s marketing and public relations manager since last June, was recently appointed as the opera company’s new director of public relations. Lesavoy succeeds Don Marrazzo, who now serves as the company’s director of artistic operations.

As Glimmerglass Opera's director of public relations, Lesavoy will serve as the company’s chief representative to the press and general public, and will be responsible for promoting its visibility in local, regional, national, and international media. Additionally, she will serve as the principal liaison between the company and the community. Glimmerglass is located on Otsego Lake in between the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains.

Prior to her work at Glimmerglass Opera, Lesavoy served as a publicist for the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance and performed public relations functions for other arts organizations, including Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio, and Florida Players, a theatre organization based in Gainesville, Florida. She has also served as a contributing writer for the Independent Alligator, a Gainesville newspaper. A South Florida native, Lesavoy graduated from the University of Florida with bachelor’s degrees in both public relations and theatre. Lesavoy’s promotion completes Glimmerglass Opera’s full-time, year-round senior staff appointments.

“Since joining us in June, Brittany has demonstrated that she has a keen knowledge of the public relations field and a dedication to Glimmerglass Opera, as well as the community that she now calls home,” said Andrea Lyons, Glimmerglass Opera’s director of administration and operations. “Brittany is a great fit for this position, and we look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”
