Designing M. Butterfly: The Sets

Scenic designer Paul Steinberg uses color and movement to help propel the plot in Julie Taymor’s current Broadway revival of the 1988 Tony Award-winning play, M. Butterfly, by David Henry Hwang. Loosely based on the relationship between French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Shi Pei Pu, a Peking opera singer, this production features costumes by Constance Hoffman, lighting by Don Holder, and sound by Will Pickens.
