Dancing The Dream With Projection-Mapped Augmented Realities

Artist duo Adrien M / Claire B have been working together in live dance performance mixed with digital arts for several years, according to The Creators Project. Together, Adrien Mondot, a computer scientist and juggler, and Claire Bardainne, a graphic and stage designer, built a software called eMotion, an app, coded in Objective C, with a physics-based animation system that allows the user to manipulate the interactions between graphical objects and real-world information. With such a tool, the pair turns stages into living virtual environments, as exemplified in Pixel-extraits, a collaboration with choreographer Mourad Merzouki, where eleven dancers combine breakdancing, circus movements, and hip-hop with projection-mapped augmented realities to engage with a digital dream world. The video above shows excerpts from the performance.
