Costume Sketches For FELA! By Tony Nominee Marina Draghici

Nominated for Best Sets and Best Costumes for her work on FELA!, Marina Draghici shares her costume sketches for this hit musical, which garnered a total of 11 Tony Awards. Draghici will participate in a special panel on collaboration at the Live Design Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC) on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Sardi’s restaurant, 234 West 44th Street, Manhattan. The panel also features Fela! lighting designer Robert Wierzel—also nominated for a Tony— projection designer Peter Nigrini, and co-writer Jim Lewis, also Tony nominated for Best Book Of A Musical. All BLMC attendees will see a performance of Fela! on Tuesday evening, May 25.

Draghici's sketches reflect the African influence of the costumes for FELA!, all of which were designed to allow the maximum of movement in this highly physical show, with its Afrobeat score and Tony-nominated direction and choreography by Bill T. Jones.
