The Coast of Utopia, Part 3

The stage has been set, and the curtain has gone up on the final installment of Tom Stoppard's sweeping trilogy, The Coast of Utopia, at Lincoln Center Theatre in New York City. After Moscow and Paris, the action is now set primarily in England, where aging Russian revolutionary Alexander Herzen — considered the father of Russian socialism — and his comrades are in exile. Their dream of ousting the czar may have been tarnished, but Stoppard keeps up a cascade of intellectual banter and verbal juggling as history marches on. Sound designer Mark Bennett and set designers Bob Crowley and Scott Pask, who collaborated on the entire troika of plays, were joined by LD Natasha Katz for Salvage, The Coast of Utopia, Part 3, which runs in rotating rep with Voyage and Shipwreck through May 13.
