To celebrate the achievements of 2019 and to welcome all the prospects of 2020, Live Design is conducting 31 Days Of Plots. Every day during the month of December 2019, we will highlight a different lighting design, from across theatre, concert tours, corporate events, and more.
Sci-fi and video games defined the Broadway musical, Be More Chill, which debuted at Two River Theatre in New Jersey in 2015 and enjoyed an off-Broadway run in 2018. The show, based on a 2004 novel of the same name by Ned Vizzini, opened on Broadway on March 10, 2019 at The Lyceum Theatre. Lighting designer Tyler Micoleau added a layer of color to accent the high-tech sets by Beowulf Boritt and video by Alex Basco-Koch. The lighting rig provided by PRG included GLP impression S350 and impression E350 (in their Broadway debut), as well as JDC1, impression X4 Bar 20, and impression X4. The lighting fixtures were hung on truss in full view of the audience. The show is scheduled to open in London in February 2020 at The Other Place Theatre.
