Scharff Weisberg Top Of The List For Time & Eventquest

A high-profile guest list, studded by entertainment celebrities, politicos, and business leaders, marked Time Magazine’s gala evening honoring its recent list of the Top 100 People Who Shape Our World. Scharff Weisberg supported the salute with audio, video and lighting equipment at the evening’s venues.

Three separate red carpets paved the way to the gala featuring a swarm of the powerful and popular including Condoleezza Rice, Jennifer Lopez, John McCain, Martha Stewart, and Ralph Lauren. The night's performers included Top 100 listers the Dixie Chicks, music legend Paul Simon and comic Stephen Colbert.

Event designer and producer EventQuest made the celebration inventive and fresh—a challenge since the space had been used the year before for the same event. EventQuest's main goals were to reflect the lofty stature of client Time and to provide VIP guests with a memorable experience. “Scharff Weisberg was our technology supplier and technology played a key role in both décor and showing what was happening on stage to everyone in attendance,” says Mark Veeder, co-founder and creative director of EventQuest. “It’s really what pulled the event together. Our goal was to make this elegant affair something that everyone would remember.”

The company provided lighting designer Ben Stanton a compliment lighting and control equipment for the red-carpet arrivals on the first floor of Time Warner Center. Fixtures were positioned on the second floor of the Center shooting down to illuminate the honorees and PARs lit the way to the elevators, which took the honorees to the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center for the gala.

Scharff Weisberg furnished projection screens and Barco projectors to the Allen Room to display IMAG and video roll-ins during the ceremony. A camera package captured the live feed. Additional screens, projectors and plasma panels displayed the same content in the atrium area for overflow guests and in the Patron’s Lounge for the press. A Grass Valley GV Kayak switcher was employed to route all the SDI signals.

“Our client was ecstatic about how everything looked from the big screen imagery to the great gobo work,” Veeder concludes. “Once again, Scharff Weisberg proved how good it is to work with them on important events like this."
