Scharff Weisberg Provides Colorful Backdrop To Victoria's Secret Commercial

On very short notice Scharff Weisberg filled a large lighting order for a Victoria’s Secret commercial shooting at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn. In the provocative Victoria’s Secret tradition, the spot, directed by Michael Bernard of cYclops Productions, featured beautiful models and sexy lingerie.

“We’ve done a lot of spots direct for Victoria’s Secret,” says Lance Anderson, executive producer at cYclops Productions. “Often, the concept is simply the girls and the product so we try to make everything as visually appealing as possible”. This was our first experience with Scharff Weisberg, and everything went off smoothly and without a hitch. It was a real pleasure.”

Scharff Weisberg provided the production with a lighting package highlighted by Vari*Lite VL3500 Spots and VL3000 Washes and spots plus two grandMA lighting consoles.

“There was a minimal set consisting of an aluminum floor,” recalls lighting designer/programmer David Arch. “The director’s design called for a big rainbow of colors with the models set against a backdrop of light and color. The package of VL3500 and VL3000 spots and washes were set up in layers behind the models which created a wall of multicolored light in the background.”

“One of the most important things to me as a producer is to get issues dealt with,” notes Anderson. “With Scharff Weisberg all the equipment was in excellent condition or new, and the crew was top notch; there were no problems. The director was thrilled, and we look forward to the next time we work together.”
