MB Productions Sets The Stage For 2007 ASCAP Latin Heritage Music Awards

MB Productions (MBP), in association with Pixelimage and Billboard Latino, was selected as the video staging partner for the 15th annual ASCAP Latin Heritage Awards. This star-studded event honored composers and publishers that made a unique contribution to the 2006 Latin music industry and took place at the Times Square Nokia Theater, New York City, Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

The production design called for two projection screens that flanking the stage, to fly directly in front of the permanently installed line array. This provided a major challenge since traditional screen material would interface with the audio quality and gain. To achieve the desired results, MBP selected the PVP based Textilene and built custom 6' x 8' screens. According to MBP's president, Brian Brooks, "Textilene has an ideal reflective quality to produce crisp projected images while being completely audio transparent. It truly proved to be the perfect low cost solution for this application."

A pair of flown Digital Projection 6000Dsx DLP Projectors were utilized to display a mix of live camera IMAG as well as graphics and video rolls that were embedded within Keynote and exhibited via a pair of Apple iMAC workstations.

The show was captured via MBP's Sony D50 SDI 5 Camera Package that consisted of their Ross Synergy 1 Digital Production switcher, Sony TX7 Triax CCU shader rack and DV cam recording facilities. The cameras were configured as two handheld, a 18' Jib arm and one master wide shot during the honorary program and each camera was recorded on seven Sony DSR-1800 DV Cam recorders.

In addition, MBP supplied the show producers with an ENG Crew that was equipped with a pair of Sony DSR-570 DV Cam Camcorder to capture B-roll and interviews of celebrities that attended the pre-show. During the event, these cameras recorded the awards and performances for archive purposes.

ASCAP awarded Franco De Vita “Songwriter of the Year “ and “Publisher of the Year.” During the event, Alejandra Guzman, Alejandro Lerner, Camila, Mario Domm, Mariachi Real deMexico, Rakim & Ken-Y, Shaila and Raices Habaneras performed.
