Impact Video Brightens Rockefeller Center for Christmas

The 73rd annual Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on November 30, 2005 in New York City. The event, “Christmas at Rockefeller Center,” was broadcast live on the NBC television network as a two-hour special.

Impact Video's Illuminator Truck Mounted LED Screens were on hand to display the broadcast to a crowd of 20,000 people, excited to be a part of the occasion. Impact Video provided two screens featuring Daktronics ProStar® LED technology. A 12’h x 17’w LED screen was positioned on 49th Street. A 17’h x 23’w unit was positioned on 50th Street facing west for the large crowds that had gathered between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Daktronics ProStar® LED technology is well known for its ability to deliver high brightness video imagery with exceptional image quality. The mobile nature of Illuminator Truck Mounted Screens is the perfect choice for most outdoor applications that require a high quality screen with limited set up time. The need for additional labor, ground support, external generators, and forklifts are eliminated due to their design.

The star-studded event was hosted by the Today Show’s Al Roker and Will & Grace star Megan Mullally. Also featured were musical performances by Sheryl Crow, Earth Wind and Fire, Regis Philbin, and Rod Stewart. With temperatures in the 40s, the crowd found warmth in the glow of the 30,000 multi-colored lights that hug the tree. A Swarovski crystal star tops the massive 9-ton tree. The tree will remain on display in Rockefeller Plaza until January 7, 2006.
