AV Concepts At The 29th Annual College Television Awards

AV Concepts provided audio, video, lighting, and scenic coordination for the 29th Annual College Television Awards honoring students from across the nation for outstanding work in video, digital, and film production. The annual gala not only honors student achievement, it puts students in elbow-rubbing proximity to industry executives and celebrities while it employs a few of them as staff for the event as well as for pre- and post- production needs.

The event took place in a sound stage at Culver Studios next door to the Deal or No Deal studio, and the celebrity guest list for the event included stars and creative talent from such notable shows as Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Heroes, Bones, and King of the Hill, among others. Awards were presented to the winners in categories including drama, comedy, best music composition, best use of music, documentary, animation, newscasts, magazine shows, commercials, and children’s programming.

AV Concepts provided a multi-camera component switch system including a jib with two 9k-DLP projectors converged and projecting on a 10.5’ x 14’ screen for showing the student video segments, and a full truss assembly lighting to light the set (which included the famous “Emmy” statues) pin spots, and both theatrical and moving lights along with décor for 60 tables.

Event organizers were so pleased with the result they have already asked AV Concepts to do the show again next year. ”The team at AV Concepts did a great job. They made it the easiest event I’ve ever worked on,” says Debbie Slavkin, program manager for the College Television Awards.
