With a resume that includes A-list clients such as Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and more, you’d think film editor and director Danny Tull would have quite the ego (and a well-warranted one considering his killer visuals), but he is, in fact, exceedingly humble, which only makes him that much more sought-after. No wonder the ultimate queen bee, Madonna herself, has maintained a successful and consistent working relationship with him since 2006, when they collaborated with director Jonas Åkerlund on the Confessions Tour video, which won a Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video.
For her current Rebel Heart Tour, Madonna asked Tull to create and edit visuals, as well as a few of her latest music videos, including “Bitch I’m Madonna” and “Ghosttown.” Live Design caught up with Tull about the tour when he was able to find Wi-Fi and cell service during his travels to the Atlas Mountains in North Africa (humble and all-around adventurer).
