For this tour, Brown and Bon Iver took on a new approach to democratizing the band layout, including adding a new band member. “The core design directive was that we didn’t want to position Justin on center or make him the focal point of the show. It was important for us to figure out a way to layout the stage so that all the musicians could play to one another as opposed to everyone facing outward towards the audience. That decision, and pushing for that particular riser layout, literally informed every design decision that was made after it.” This directive guided the beginning of the design process for Brown.
