By Design: A Chat With Lighting Designer Elizabeth Harper

A Los Angeles-based lighting designer, Elizabeth Harper received her M.F.A. in Design from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and is currently a professor of lighting design at the University of Southern California. She has designed numerous world premieres, worked at various regional theatres, and designed events and immersive spaces for Microsoft, Ubisoft, Under Armour, AirBnB, Asics, and Universal Studios. She also has a semi-secret life as a writer and expert on the art and theatre of folk-Catholicism. Her essays and photos have appeared in Slate, The LA Review of Books, Laphams’ Quarterly, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s catalogue for Like Life: Sculpture, Color and the Body.
