Astro Spatial Audio (ASA) works to create object-based immersive audio solutions that result in 3D sound environments. At the heart of the system is SARA II, the rendering engine built on a Linux-based CPU design, as opposed to FPGA-based signal processing. Already used on Broadway for Kai Harada’s sound design of The Band’s Visit, one judge calls the system “so impressive and backed by a passion for pushing the envelope in pro audio. The position-dependent 3D reverb algorithms are really cool, as they create a localized feel to reverb, something that has always lacking when your drive amp effects return into a PA.
