Sound Product Of The Year, Immersive Sound Processor: Astro Spatial Audio SARA II

Astro Spatial SARA II

The top products of the past year that are our in the market are here once again, chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories: lighting, projection, and sound.

Astro Spatial Audio (ASA) works to create object-based immersive audio solutions that result in 3D sound environments. At the heart of the system is SARA II, the rendering engine built on a Linux-based CPU design, as opposed to FPGA-based signal processing. Already used on Broadway for Kai Harada’s sound design of The Band’s Visit, one judge calls the system “so impressive and backed by a passion for pushing the envelope in pro audio. The position-dependent 3D reverb algorithms are really cool, as they create a localized feel to reverb, something that has always lacking when your drive amp effects return into a PA. Given time, I can see them getting better and better.”

Additional winners in sound include:

RF Monitoring
Wavetool v2

In-Ear Monitoring
Lectrosonics Duet Series

Shure Axient ADX1M Micro-Bodypack Transmitter
