Sound Product Of The Year, Console Software: DiGiCo Stealth Core 2

DiGiCo SD5

Live Design has named its top products of the past year again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2016-2017 Products Of The Year.

Take DiGiCo’s already-popular Stealth Digital Processing™ for its SD series digital mixers, and add some magic? Well, maybe not magic, but DiGiCo did incorporate the latest developments in field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, making the manufacturer’s consoles faster, with more capacity for processing channels. Stealth Core 2 basically has more of everything: expanded bussing, more onboard effects, plus dynamic EQ and a DiGiTube on every channel and buss. “Core 2 is like evolving from a tadpole to a Jedi,” says one judge. Another adds that the upgrade is more than just an upgrade, noting, “I love that DiGiCo is upending the console world by doubling channel counts with a software update.” DiGiCo products are distributed in the US by Group One Ltd.

Products of the year will be presented along with the Live Design Achievement Awards and the tenth annual Excellence in Live Design Awards during a ceremony, sponsored by GLP and Meyer Sound, on June 12 in New York.
