Sound Product Of The Year, Console: Midas M32

The top products of the past year are here once again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2014-2015 Products Of The Year. Congratulations to the teams that developed these products and all those who support them. Sound Product of the Year for Consoles is Midas M32.

Because every show should have a Bentley in the mix, Midas enlisted the services of Rajesh Kutty, an industrial designer known for his work with luxury auto manufacturers including Bentley, as the manufacturer says “to create a future-forward design that took the Midas legacy even further…” The resulting M32 is both new and classic, with the logical layout and ergonomics live sound engineers expect plus all the modern amenities required by the gig. One of our judges says, “It’s quite comprehensive and still affordable.” Another notes, “We’re becoming pretty enamored with a single A-D-A conversion from mic to speaker using Midas and d&b. In the wacky world we live in, this combination keeps generating positive client/user comments about the rigs sounding ‘almost like analog.’ This is possible with the M32.”
