Sound Product Of The Year, Acoustical Treatments: Auralex GRAMMA v2

The top products of the past year are here once again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2014-2015 Products Of The Year. Congratulations to the teams that developed these products and all those who support them. The Sound Product of the Year for Acoustical Treatments is Auralex GRAMMA v2.

GRAMMA™ stands for Gig and Recording, Amp and Monitor, Modulation Attenuator, and it’s a patented isolation platform that’s used to float an amp or loudspeaker. Version 2 of GRAMMA features an Ozite® covering over an inert structural layer that floats on a 1" pad of Auralex® Platfoam™. The point is to hone the accurate sound of an amp or loudspeaker by negating resonance artifacts, and GRAMMA does it with nearly complete acoustic isolation. “This is a substantial update to the original GRAMMA that is several years old,” says one judge. “These products make a huge difference on stage, in the pit, and in the audience. It isolates stage monitors, amplifiers, subwoofers, etcetera from its supporting surface. It really works.”
