Grammy-Winner Michael Abbott On Being Audio Producer For The Grammys

If there was a Grammy Award for the most appearances at the Grammys, Michael Abbott (and probably most of his sound crew), would win it. Thirty-eight years after he first began doing stage mixes for artists on the show using analog consoles, he comes back every year as the audio producer.

A three-time Grammy winner for sound mixing 2017-2019, Abbott has been in the industry since in 1972, at first as a touring sound professional, and then focusing on live for broadcast and special events. Abbott has worked on large-scale events as diverse as the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and presidential inaugural balls.

He talked to Live Design from backstage at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards celebrations.
