LDI Projection Mapping Summit: Introduction

At LDI2017, the Projection Mapping Summit took visual design and technology to a new level. Learn the art of projection mapping and its applications in live performance, public art, corporate events, and architecture.

Topics include content creation and delivery, pre-production imaging including laser scanning and models; systems and process, establishing system requirements based upon needs of event or production; support of the content and production or art program; determining the equipment requirements and client interface; plus case studies of projects by leading designers and production companies.

Founder and director of the Winston-Salem Light Project and the director of lighting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Norman Coates moderates this opening discussion at the Projection Mapping Summit with a panel discussion about projection mapping and its various ways to accomplish project objectives. Speakers include TJ Donoghue from Worldstage; media server programmer, sequencing artist, and engineer Michael Kohler; assistant professor of Media Design for Live Performance and Installation at The Ohio State University, Alex Oliszewski; and Daniel Fine, artist, scholar, and technologist working in immersive, responsive, mediated environments for interactive users, audiences and performance.
