The top products of the past year are here once again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2014-2015 Products Of The Year. Congratulations to the teams that developed these products and all those who support them. The Projection Product Of The Year for software is the Cast BlackTrax version 1.5.
BlackTrax is an affordable comprehensive tracking technology solution that delivers precise 3D and 6D positioning in realtime to controllers for automated/robotic technologies. One of our judges notes, “They have vastly improved the accuracy and response of the tracking and released an open API for any server to implement tracking to any parameter. We used it with d3 and were able to accurately track 60 independent points simultaneously. It allowed us to create content ‘spotlights,’ and combat phenomena on performers, and it was so solid. We were able to know where performers were, where they were headed, what direction they were facing, as well as calculate distance between performers to map content variably in realtime. I know it’s not intuitive to include a ‘lighting product’ in projection, but the impact of tracking scenic objects and performers is going to be huge for all of us.”
