Schedule Announced For 2006 Broadway Sound Master Classes

Abe Jacob, creative consultant of the Broadway Sound Master Classes, has announced the preliminary schedule for the this year's event, to be held May 19-21 at Abe Burrows Theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in New York City. The faculty for the BSMC includes Abe Jacob, Tom Clark, Nevin Steinberg, Steve Kennedy, Jon Weston, Peter Hylenski, and John Shivers.

The 2006 BSMC kicks off with a Friday-night performance of The Drowsy Chaperone with sound design by Acme Sound Partners, followed by a special informal post-show discussion with the designers. On Saturday, May 20th, Tom Clark and Nevin Steinberg of Acme Sound will hold a special session covering the sound design of the Drowsy. Saturday’s schedule also includes a seminar by Steve Bush and Todd Meier of Meyer Sound detailing the Fundamentals of Sound Design and Optimization.

The BSMC concludes Sunday, May 21st, with a full-day of sessions by some of the top sound designers working Broadway today, including Peter Hylenski (The Wedding Singer), Jon Weston (The Color Purple), and Steve Kennedy (Jersey Boys).

Attendees to the fourth annual BSMC will also be invited to attend a cocktail reception Saturday evening and the Manufacturer's Showcase, which features products from leading sound manufacturers. Continental breakfast and lunch are included in the tuition fee, to register click here.

The Live Design Master Classes are produced by Live Design magazine in conjunction with the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. The entire BSMC program, led by creative consultant Abe Jacob, including seminars, manufacturers showcases, and cocktail parties, will run May 19 to 21 at Abe Burrows Theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The Broadway Lighting Master Classes, with creative consultant Jules Fisher, will take place May 22-24 at the Skirball Center–located at 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South on the NYU campus, which is part of the Helen and Martin Kimmel University Center, which opened in late 2003.
