Wenger Corporation has announced the launch of GearBoss® Sports Rigging, expanding the company’s capabilities to provide engineered rigging solutions for sports and entertainment venues across North America.
Led by David Piccola, Director of GearBoss Sports Rigging, the new offering will serve arenas, stadiums, universities and other large venues on applications including suspended audio, video, lighting, scoring systems and other venue equipment.
GearBoss Sports Rigging will support customers and project partners from early planning and design through engineering, equipment, installation support, inspection, maintenance and future upgrades. Solutions include arena reduction systems, sub-grid systems, arena wire rope tension grid systems and full arena rigging inspections.
“Sports and entertainment venues have increasingly complex rigging needs, and those needs require more than simply selecting equipment,” said Piccola. “They require a partner who understands the facility, the application, the safety requirements and the long-term demands of the project. I’m excited to join Wenger and build GearBoss Sports Rigging around that level of expertise while leveraging the resources, engineering capabilities and support of a company with Wenger’s history and reputation.”
Piccola brings more than 25 years of experience in rigging and the sports and entertainment industry. His background includes rigging strategy, project development, safety and compliance, operations, key account management and strategic partnerships across sports, entertainment, construction and live-event environments.
GearBoss Sports Rigging builds on Wenger Corporation’s longstanding expertise in rigging and performance environments. Through its J.R. Clancy brand, Wenger has provided rigging and motion control solutions for performing arts venues, with a history of innovation focused on safety and durability dating back to 1885. The new GearBoss team extends that expertise into sports and entertainment venues, where suspended equipment is increasingly integral to the fan and performance experience.
“We see a significant opportunity to bring Wenger’s capabilities into a market where safety, engineering and reliability are critical,” said Dave Thomas, President and CEO of Wenger Corporation. “David brings deep industry expertise and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by venue owners, architects, contractors and facility teams. His experience, combined with Wenger’s engineering, manufacturing and customer support capabilities, gives us an opportunity to build something meaningful for this market.”
The launch represents another step in Wenger’s broader strategy of bringing together specialized capabilities to serve the evolving needs of performance and athletic environments.
