W-DMX Helps Light Carnival in Venice

Following the successful Olympic ceremonies in Turin, Italy, Laser Entertainment srl again turned to W-DMX by Wireless Solution Sweden AB to make Carnival in Venice a truly memorable event. Twelve Stark projectors were placed into four points around the famous Piazza San Marco, with each point containing one Stark Revolution and two Stark Live projectors, controlled with Pangolin software. Beautiful themed images were then projected onto the four sides of Campanile di San Marco. All units for the show used Wireless-DMX.

Alberto Kellner Ongaro, CEO of Laser Entertainment srl was very happy with the dependability of the system. “The show ran from 6:30 pm to 1:00 am every night for one week with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The distances from transmitter to receivers was up to 150 m (500’). On Saturday and Sunday there were more than 100,000 people at the same time in the square with telephones, radio, television signals, etc. and we never had a single interference problem,” he said.

Because W-DMX can be used to cover distances of over 900m (3,000’) using the standard antenna, with an optional larger antenna making distances of over 30 kilometers (18 miles) possible, it is the ideal solution for large-scale events.

A complete range of Transmitters, Receivers, Repeaters and Boosters for transmitting wireless DMX data are available for both indoor and outdoor application. The product is suitable for both entertainment as well as architectural lighting application but also for OEM purposes, built inside fixtures and consoles. The first product on the market utilizing W-DMX OEM built inside a fixture is the SGM Giotto 700 Synthesis. Delivered as standard in all units, it gives lighting designers more freedom than ever. W-DMX by Wireless Solution Sweden AB is the only system on the market for Wireless DMX that is dual award-winning. First in 2004 with the PLASA Innovation Award for "Taking Wireless Data to new levels" with the W-DMX indoor system. At LDI in Orlando 2005, Wireless Solutions introduced the new IP65 range of W-DMX products and was awarded "Most promising prototype of the year" in the Lighting Accessory Category.
