Avon, CO - Visual Terrain tapped the 4Wall Systems & Design division to provide a permanent projection mapping installation on the clock tower overlooking Beaver Creek Resort's iconic ice rink.
Some of the challenges the 4Wall Systems crew faced included the outdoor location with frequent inclement weather, as Beaver Creek gets over 300 inches of snow every year.
Minimal available mounting locations for the projectors was also a challenge. The resort also needed a hands-off control, so they didn't need to hire an engineer for the system. All of this was compounded by lead time and availability issues that have been plaguing the industry all year.

The project timeline from the start of procurement to the completed installation was only 54 days.
The content, created by Visual Terrain, is split across seven layers, played back from a Green Hippo Nevis+ media server. From the rack, located in the Zamboni Room, a signal is sent via HDBaseT to the projector, situated on the balcony of the Hyatt Hotel across the street from the ice rink. There are also lines for NDI input run to select locations to allow live input for special events.
Everything is controlled by the Universe Show Control software, allowing for scheduled control of everything from the system turning on/off, to playback of the canned shows, to switching to the live input for special events.
