Visual act Wins Swedish Award

Niklas Philipson and Kristian Franck, the design team behind the Swedish firm Visual act, were recently awarded the "Narrenpriset 2003" in the category of event design.

The Swedish Event academy seeks to reward and bring forth worthy individuals and initiatives within the Swedish event, conference and entertainment industries. In awarding the prize, the judges referred to the influence Philipson and Franck have had on the design and technical solutions for major shows such as the Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Lillehammer and the Eurovsion Song Contests in Stockholm, Tallinn and Riga.

"Philipson & Franck exemplify the combination of skill, wherewithal and capability with a knack for creating atmosphere and experiences which provoke, engage and stimulate the spectator," the judges said.

Other recent projects by Visual act include stage productions of Charley's Aunt and Spoonface Steinberg.
