Vincent Vision

The sixth annual winner of Women in Film's Kodak Vision Award, presented June 8 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, is Amy Vincent. The cinematographer won an Independent Spirit Award in 1998 for Eve's Bayou, her feature debut, and has gone on to shoot such movies as Freedom Song, Some Girls, and The Caveman's Valentine, along with the award-winning short films Tuesday Morning Ride and Dr. Hugo. A native of Boston, Vincent has a bachelor degree in theatre arts and film from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a masters in cinematography from the American Film Institute. In addition to her work as a director of photography, Vincent teaches at the Los Angeles Film School and works with the Independent Feature Project/West on Project: Involve, a mentoring program for young minority filmmakers.

Kodak has sponsored a cinematography prize at the Women in Film Crystal Awards luncheon since 1996. Previous recipients are Nancy Schreiber, ASC, Sandi Sissel, ASC, Ellen Kuras, ASC, Roxanne DiSanto, and Lisa Rinzler. For more information on Women in Film, visit the WIF website at www.wif.org.
