Veterans Administration To Reimburse ETCP Exam Fees

Under new arrangements with the Veterans Administration, it is now possible for veterans to receive reimbursement for ETCP application fees. All three ETCP exams have been approved under the G.I. Bill. Veterans may seek reimbursement for up to one year after sitting for the exam and can receive up to $2,000, but not more than the actual cost of the test. The benefits are paid whether or not a passing score is achieved, and an applicant can receive benefits to retake an exam that has not been passed.

Reimbursement is applicable to any candidate who took the exam after November 1, 2007, and those candidates who are eligible have one year from that date to seek a return on their investment in acquiring their ETCP Certification.

A candidate can apply to receive this benefit if he/she is eligible for one of the following:

The Montgomery G.I. Bill (also called the MGIB or Chapter 30)

VEAP (also called Chapter 32)

or

Dependents Educational Assistance (also called DEA or Chapter 35).

A veteran generally has 10 years after discharge from active duty to use the benefits. If a veteran has never previously applied for VA education benefits, he/she will also need to submit an application for benefits. Please fill out VA Form 22-1990 if a veteran or VA Form 22-5490 for an eligible child or spouse. Forms may be requested by calling 1-888-GIBILL-1. These forms may also be completed online and may be submitted at the same time as the request for reimbursement.

Interested parties may email Meredith Moseley-Bennett or call 212-244-1505 for more information.

The exams are available for computer based-testing and a candidate can make arrangements to take the exam at one of 190 testing centers around the US and in Canada.
