ETC's position as the emerging global leader in the lighting industry was reinforced with the purchase of German lighting company transtechnik Lichtsysteme this year. ETC sees a strong synergy in the new union with transtechnik Lichtsysteme, which has a high reputation for professional lighting systems and studio automation in the central European market.

According to Fred Foster, Chief Executive Officer of ETC: "The two companies share the same dedication to serving our customers. By combining transtechnik Lichtsysteme with ETC, we will be able to increase our range of products and services to the German as well as the global markets."

transtechnik Lichtsysteme continues to offer its brand-name products and turn-key/project-management services to clients like theaters, opera houses and TV/broadcast studios. "ETC supports transtechnik Lichtsysteme's delivery of high quality service to its customers, and its operations will remain in Holzkirchen [south of Munich]," said Foster.

On the benefit to ETC of transtechnik Lichtsysteme's additional market niche, Rainer Lotz, Director of Sales for transtechnik Lichtsysteme, remarked: "transtechnik Lichtsysteme is a respected supplier in the field of studio automation. Together we will offer unique, cutting-edge studio-automation systems and components."

ETC and transtechnik Lichtsysteme will appoint German dealers who will offer the complete range of avab, transtechnik Lichtsysteme and ETC products, while Lightpower will remain the exclusive distributor of the Source Four line and Arcus for the WYSIWYG lighting-design software line.
