Top Broadway Lighting Designers To Appear On Gotham TV On April 29

Primedia’s Entertainment Design Magazine Teams Up With
Gotham TV on Filming of "Behind the Scenes With
Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer"

Entertainment Design magazine, a Primedia publication focusing on the art and technology of show business, is collaborating with Gotham TV to showcase the top lighting designers in the country. Seven-time Tony Award-winning lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer will be featured in a special behind-the-scenes segment on Gotham TV, a weekly one-hour cable television show that focuses on the eclectic array of people who coexist in the Big Apple, letting them tell their own stories in their own environments.

Entertainment Design magazine brought the idea to Gotham TV earlier this year, with an eye toward producing a behind-the-scenes series that would feature the talented designers, architects, and artisans who make up the world of entertainment design today. This initial segment featuring Fisher and Eisenhauer will be broadcast on Sunday, April 29 at 9 p.m. on Gotham TV, produced by Saad and Moss, a NYC-based production company, for the Metro Channel. The show will re-air at 10 p.m. and midnight, May 1; 1 a.m., May 2; and 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., May 5. Gotham TV airs on the MSG Metro Channel in New York, which is Ch. 70 on Time Warner Cable and Ch. 16 on Cablevision.

Interviews were taped in the designers’ Third Eye Studio in Manhattan, as well as backstage at Cabaret, Eisenhauer and Mike Baldassari, and at Jane Eyre, Fisher and Eisenhauer’s most recent Broadway musical, which is playing at the Brooks Atkinson. The segment was produced by a team from Saad and Moss, including producer Lynn Sadofsky, associate producer Jennifer DiLullo, director Jeff Hasler, and cinematographer Michael Pearlman.

"This is a very exciting opportunity for us, and a great way to extend the reach of the magazine," said Jacqueline Tien, publisher of Entertainment Design. "Gotham TV is a natural partner for us, since Metro Channel has a special relationship with PRIMEDIA; in effect we are all part of the same family. I hope this is the first of many segments that feature the great pool of talent we cover in Entertainment Design."

David Barbour, editorial director of Entertainment Design, consulting editor and LDI workshops director Ellen Lampert-Gréaux, and Entertainment Design editor David Johnson were also on hand for the tapings. Barbour commented, "Jules and Peggy lend themselves just perfectly to this kind of thing, as they are so eloquent about their art. We have worked closely with them on the Broadway Lighting Master Classes for the past few years, and it is very exciting to work with them on the segment for Gotham TV."
