Tony Walton To Be Honored In LA

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) Film Society will honor the film work of production/costume designer Tony Walton with a screening of the 1966 classic A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Directors Guild Theatre, 7920 Sunset Blvd. Walton will be present for the event, which will include a Q&A session about his career following the screening.

Walton’s film career includes work as a production designer on such films as Mary Poppins, Murder on the Orient Express, The Wiz, Star 80, Heartburn, and Regarding Henry. He won an Academy Award for his work on All That Jazz, as well as an Emmy for Death of a Salesman and Tony Awards for Pippin, The House of Blue Leaves, and Guys and Dolls.

Of course, Walton equally well known for his stage work; recent projects include the current Broadway revival of Our Town with Paul Newman, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Annie Get Your Gun, The Will Rogers Follies, and Six Degrees of Separation.

The event will be begin at 3pm with a reception; the screening will take place at 4pm. Admission is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required by calling the ADG at 818-762-9995.
