Sundance Festival To Use DP Projectors for Sixth Consecutive Year

Digital Projection Inc. (DPI), an Emmy* Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, will be the official provider of digital projectors for digital film screenings and the internationally televised Awards ceremony at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival (January 16 to 26, Park City, Utah).

DPI will provide more than a dozen of its high-performance HIGHlite, THUNDER and LIGHTNING 3-chip DLP* projectors for use in eleven theaters/venues, including the auditorium where the Awards ceremony will take place, the Park City Racquet Club.

"Digital Projection's projectors continue to produce extraordinary results - an amazing balance of color, brightness and contrast," said Ian Calderon, director of digital initiatives for the Sundance Institute. "Digital Projection's technology, industry expertise and world-class service continue to serve us well at the Festival."

Every Film Festival category will have digital entries, including high-definition premieres, documentaries, features and shorts. Organizers expect at least 30% of the Festival's screenings to be displayed in a digital format.

"Digital Projection is honored to be responsible for display of works from today's and tomorrow's most important independent filmmakers," said Chuck Collins, DPI's senior market development manager. "The Sundance Film Festival is the premier event for these filmmakers, and the ever-increasing use of the digital video display demonstrates the foresight and vision of its organizers."
