Japan — system32recordings has announced the release of StageQ, a Windows companion application designed for professionals using QLab 5 in theatre, live events, schools, performance venues, and other show production environments.
StageQ enables users to monitor and remotely control QLab running on a Mac from a Windows PC. Communication between the two systems is handled via OSC and TCP over a local network, providing reliable, low-latency operation during live productions.
Unlike workspace editing software, StageQ is designed specifically for live show operation. It allows sound operators, stage managers, directors, and technical staff to monitor and control QLab from backstage, the audience area, a secondary technical desk, or any other operating position connected to the same network.
StageQ was developed to provide production teams with a simple and reliable way to monitor and operate QLab from Windows without requiring additional Mac hardware at every operating position. It integrates seamlessly into existing QLab workflows while keeping all workspace editing within QLab itself.
Key Features
Display the QLab cue list on a Windows PC
Synchronize cue selection between StageQ and QLab
Perform GO, STOP, and ESC/Panic operations remotely
Display the currently playing cue
View elapsed time, total duration, and remaining playback time
Monitor playback progress with a real-time progress bar
Display QLab cue colors
Automatically synchronize cue additions, deletions, reordering, names, colors, timing, and continue modes
Prevent accidental operation with Lock Mode
Monitor playback continuously using the compact Always-on-Top Mini Mode
StageQ is intended as an operational companion rather than a replacement for QLab. Cue creation, editing, deletion, and workspace management remain within QLab on the Mac, while StageQ provides convenient remote monitoring and operational control from Windows.
The application is particularly well suited for theatres, performance venues, production companies, schools, universities, houses of worship, and technical teams that use Windows computers alongside a Mac running QLab.
