Singapore – The National Stadium at The Kallang now features a permanent, stadium-wide d&b audiotechnik sound system, following its official commissioning in May. Announced today, the major upgrade elevates the venue’s world-class capabilities as a premier destination for mega-concerts and large-scale live events.
Powered by d&b audiotechnik, the new integrated system provides a premium, rider-friendly audio solution that meets the expectations of international touring productions while reducing the cost, complexity, and variability traditionally associated with staging major events. Purpose-built for the stadium's unique architecture, it offers promoters and touring acts a turnkey solution designed for seamless delivery at scale.
A smarter solution for organizers
For event organizers, the new system delivers immediate commercial and operational value, including:
Lower manpower and logistics requirements that simplify the production footprint;
Integration that works seamlessly with a wide range of touring set-ups;
Faster bump-in and bump-out, freeing up valuable production time for events where extensive stage builds are not required;
Reduced need to import expensive external audio setups, offering a cost-competitive in-house alternative to traditional touring system rentals.
"As the live entertainment landscape in the region grows more competitive, we must continuously innovate to keep Singapore at the forefront of the global experience economy,” said Yazed Osman, Group Head, Events & Placemaking and Place Management of The Kallang Group. “With this audio system upgrade at the National Stadium, we help reduce the logistical friction for international promoters, while elevating the acoustic experience for fans. It reinforces our commitment to be the premier destination of choice for the most ambitious and iconic live experiences."
Consistent, high-performance sound across the venue
Engineered specifically for the stadium's iconic dome, the system delivers clear vocals, balanced sound, and strong low-end performance across all seating sections. Its design ensures a consistent audience experience throughout the venue, with reduced echo and sound spillover.
The system is also built to support multiple stadium and stage configurations, giving creative and production teams the flexibility to realize their vision without compromise.
Built for scale and flexibility
With this new upgrade, the National Stadium builds on its existing capabilities that support a wide range of concert formats, layouts, and stage positions - accommodating everything from large-scale international tours to more bespoke production needs. This adaptability ensures the venue can meet the demands of the world's most ambitious live productions.
Proven at the biggest stages
The stadium's audio system, complemented by audio systems deployed for performers and integrated by this year's National Day Parade organising committee, delivered a custom-engineered sound experience designed specifically for one of the nation's most significant celebrations. To complement the parade's largest-ever indoor special effects presentation, the system enabled an immersive suite of synchronized audio, music and pyrotechnic cues that elevated the spectacle.
Several of the live music industry's highly respected audio professionals who have engineered sound design for the world's biggest acts have tested the system and endorsed its performance.
"The new system has changed the way an artist, a promoter, a management company or anybody will look at the National Stadium as a venue. It's a plug-and-play solution, with the advantage of being able to tap into a dedicated, sophisticated, and top-of-the-range manufacturer sound system,” said world-renowned live sound engineer Joe O'Herlihy, best known as the Audio Director and Front of House Engineer for U2 since 1978.
"The upgrade really saves us money and time as we can incorporate the installed house system into our touring system. A good quality system like this helps us to improve the direct-to-reverberant ratio that enhances the experience," noted Ville Kauhanen, Lead Audio System Engineer who has worked with international stars including Taylor Swift, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bon Jovi and Britney Spears.
Tony Smith, a veteran production specialist with over two decades of experience shaping Coldplay’s world-renowned live shows, highlighted how a well-designed sound system delivers value to both the production and audience experience: “When a sound system is designed correctly and is ready-to-use, it saves unnecessary setup time and costs. It brings benefits to everyone involved in the experience - from the crew and the artists to, most importantly, the fans in the stands.”
An End-to-End Venue Proposition
The new sound system adds to the National Stadium’s architectural and engineering achievements that make it one of the world's most remarkable live venues:
Unobstructed sightlines beneath the world's largest free-spanning dome, with no pillars and clear 360° views.
The "Bowl Cooling" system delivers cooled air directly at spectator level through targeted distribution, enhancing comfort across the seating tiers.
Versatile configurability - the venue transforms seamlessly between concerts, sporting events, and other large-scale formats.
Together, these features place the National Stadium firmly as a complete, future-ready destination for organisers seeking to deliver unforgettable live experiences.
