Award-winning designer, teacher, and consultant for live entertainment and theatre, with a career spanning over 40 years, Don Childs passed away at the age of 68 on December 18, 2011, following complications from heart surgery. He was one of the founders of the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas (SILV).
Childs is survived by his wife Jane and daughter Tera, who report that they have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support, best wishes, and kind words that have come their way since Don's passing.
Plans are being made for a celebration of life at the 2012 USITT conference in Long Beach, CA on March 31. All are welcome to participate in the reception and memorial, and to share their stories and memories of Don. Plans are being finalized, details will be published as soon as they are available.
