Selecon Announces U.S. Stock Base and Manufacturer’s Representative.

Selecon, the New Zealand-based manufacturer of theatrical lighting, has established a stock base for its product line in Boston, MA. This move, along with the appointment of a New York-based rep, Mark Burlace, is aimed at increasing the company’s US market share.

Burlace is an experienced international theatre lighting professional, with credits as a designer and technician in both the UK and Australasia. He has a long association with the Edinburgh Festival for whom he has managed the lighting in one of the venues at the Assembly Rooms.

Speaking of the moves, Selecon’s Jeremy Collins comments “The US market is looking for better solutions to meet the ever increasing challenges of entertainment lighting. The combination of performance and operational innovations along with the unique safety features and lower cost of ownership delivered by Selecon fixtures are increasingly appreciated by the US market. These measures will assist in spreading this message while ensuring we have the stock holdings in place to meet the immediate demands of our industry.”

The best-known item in the Selecon range is the Pacific, a fixed-beam profile unit that uses a cold mirror at 45 degrees to the beam of light. Selecon’s dealer in Hollywood, CA, Angstrom Lighting, recently supplied 20 Pacific units to the Hollywood Bowl. Other venues taking the Pacific have been New York’s Metropolitan Opera, USC and Indiana Universities, the Manitoba Center for the Arts, Jubilee Hall in Edmonton, among others. The units are also employed on the national tour of Mamma Mia!
