A group of regional theatre sound designers from across the country have created an online petition to be sent to the League of Regional Theatres asking that sound designers be included in the upcoming collective bargaining agreement with United Scenic Artists Local 829.
The petition, written by John Gromada, asks that sound designers "be afforded the same respect as other members of the design team who have been traditionally covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement."
Thus far 120 sound designers have signed the petition; the list reads like a who’s who of theatre sound designers, from Jonathan Deans to Jim LaBrecht to Garth Hemphill to Abe Jacob.
