Ravitz Lights Bad Company for DirecTV Special

Emmy-winning LD Jeff Ravitz, partner in Visual Terrain Inc., has designed the lighting for a satellite television special and DVD release starring groundbreaking British rock band Bad Company. The show, titled In Concert: Merchants of Cool was shot in January during sold-out performances at Denver's Paramount Theatre and The Grove of Anaheim in California. The concert airs on DirecTV May 31 through June 24, several times a day, and is expected to reach 11 million households.

Ravitz notes, "We designed a custom lighting system for the shoot to help create maximum variety, excitement, and high-quality visuals for the 90-minute show. Both venues have in-house lighting, as well, which we used to accent the architecture of the theatres and augment audience coverage."

The lighting system, provided by Morpheus Lights of Redding, CA, was comprised of 70 Morpheus FaderBeam automated wash lights, 30 Morpheus PC Spot hard-edged fixtures, and a small conventional package for keylight and scenic fill. Programmer/show LD for the shoots was Libby Gray. The show was directed by Mike Drumm of Music Link Productions.
