The second annual LDInstitute On The Road presents the three-day PRG Institute, Wednesday-Friday, November 28, 29, 30 (9:30am-5:30pm), to be held in Los Angeles in conjunction with the third annual Live Design Concert Master Classes and the inaugural TV Lighting Master Classes.
PRG's (Production Resource Group) three-day intensive entertainment technology training is limited to 16 participants for personalized hands-on training at just $395 ($495 after November 16). Lunch included.

Day 1: Consoles
V276 on Mac/V476/ V676 Control Console Introductory Level (1 day training)
9:30am-5:30pm
This introduction to the V276, V476, and V676 lighting control consoles offers hands-on training for the end-user. Offering extraordinary speed, both in programming and responsiveness, as well as innovative interface advancements both in hardware layout and software design, the VX76 consoles are quickly becoming the consoles of choice by programmers throughout the industry.
Recent shows using this console include: Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics, American Idol, the Oscars and the Grammy Awards, the Madonna 2012 tour, and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway.

Day 2: Media Servers
Mbox Extreme Media Server Training: Introductory Level (1-day training) 9:30am-5:30pm
This introductory training day gives uses an inside look at the PRG Mbox family of media server products, which are designed to give users powerful and flexible control by working seamlessly with up to twelve layers (eight layers on Mbox Studio) of content which can be displayed simultaneously and allowing layers to be any combination of 3D objects or background. Users also have the ability to transition content, both 2D and 3D, on the same layer. Attendess will also receive training on the Mbox Director application, which is a graphical interface allowing users to program without a lighting console.
Recent shows using Mbox include: the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill tour, Opening Ceremonies of the Pan American Games Guadalajara, the feature film Iron Man 2, and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway.

Day 3: Automated Luminaires, Distribution, and Networking
9:30am-12:30pm: Best Boy & Bad Boy Luminaires Introductory Level
Bad Boy Luminaire
This session will take you under the hood to examine the key features of one the brightest lights on the market with 48,000-lumen output You will learn how the Bad Boy was used in the designs on many high profile concert tours, television and film productions including the Jay-Z & Eminem Home & Home Stadium Shows, the 2012 Summer Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the feature film Cowboys and Aliens.
Best Boy 4000 Spot Luminaire
Learn the key features of PRG’s newest automated luminaire that received the Live Design Best Debuting Lighting Product in 2011. This +20,000 lumen is an “all in one” fixture with iris and shutters, CMY color mixing, two rotating gobo wheels, an effects wheel, a color temperature wheel, and an 8:1 zoom. This luminaire is extremely efficient as it draws only 10 amps at 110 volts or 5 amps at 208 volts. Recent projects using the Best Boy include the Grammys, American Idol, Evita on Broadway, and Madonna’s MDNA tour.
1:30pm-3:30pm: Networking Basics and The Series 400 Power & Data Distribution System With the growth of media server and LED technologies, concert touring systems have become more and more sophisticated, relying heavily on complex networking infrastructures to distribute data. This class focuses on the fundamentals of tour networking with emphasis on establishing good set-up practices in order to properly maintain data networks in a dynamic environment.

3:30pm – 5:30 pm: The Series 400 Power & Data Distribution System
Attendees will study the widely acclaimed Series 400 system, which provides a reliable and safe system that distributes both power and data with one integrated cable for automated luminaires and remote devices. All DMX addressing can be programmed offline or at the rack, as well as convenient “at the rack” re-addressing. Instructors will provide application tips from recent projects in multiple markets, including special events, TV, concert tours, and Broadway.
Recent projects using the Series 400 Power and Data Distribution system include the U2 360º tour, Britney Spears tours, The Tony Awards, and The Addams Family and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway.
