Philips Color Kinetics Donates $5000 to the Wally Foundation

The Wally Russell Foundation is pleased to announce a contribution of $5000.00 from Philips Color Kinetics in support of the ongoing work of the Wally Foundation. “Once again, it is encouraging to see the corporate giving returning to our Foundation. The ongoing funding of the important programs that are the heart and soul of the Wally Foundation’s mission is critical to our future ability to continue the Foundations work, “commented Tom Folsom, chairman of the Foundation.

Philip O’Donnell, vice president at Philips Color Kinetics notes, “Wally Russell’s impact on our industry has been both broad and deep. We at Philips Color Kinetics are proud to continue Wally’s vision and continue supporting the Foundation’s work in providing grants for lighting internships at both the Los Angeles Opera and the Canadian National Opera.”

The Wally Russell Foundation’s Internship Scholarship Program fosters and encourages talent and creativity on the part of newcomers to the entertainment industry through its alliances with the Los Angeles Opera (where Russell served as the founding Technical Director) and the Canadian Opera Company where Russell also served as technical director.

Additionally the Foundation supports two WALLY Awards presented at LDI each year:

The Lifetime Achievement Award presented on an annual basis to an individual who has, during their career, made outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

The Most Promising Newcomer Award presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional promise in their chosen field within the industry
