Patrick Dierson to Light 2003 EDDY Awards

Emmy-nominated LD Patrick Dierson will design the lights for the 2003 EDDY Awards and party sponsored by Entertainment Design magazine on Friday evening, June 27, at John Jay College Auditorium in New York City. One of the most colorful designers in the business (he's been seen with purple hair and black fingernails on occasion, along with a purple velvet jacket), Dierson was nominated in the category of Outstanding Lighting Design for VMC Programming in 2001-2002 at the 54th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. He was nominated as one of the five LDs involved with America: A Tribute to Heroes, an all-star musical tribute held on September 21, 2001, and broadcast live on over 30 networks, which helped to raise money for families of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. Dierson's wide range of credits also includes lighting for MTV's Fashionably Loud, Shakira, VH-1's Concert for New York, and NY Rangers and Knicks games at Madison Square Garden.

Dierson will also provide a basic plot for the Broadway Lighting Master Classes, June 25-27, and the Broadway Sound Master Classes, June 28-29, also at John Jay College Auditorium. Led by industry experts Jules Fisher (BLMC) and Abe Jacob (BSMC), these classes offer in-depth training on the art of professional sound and lighting design. Attendees will see the current Broadway production of Gypsy, starring Bernadette Peters, with lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer.
