Olivier Nominations Announced

The nominations for the 2004 Laurence Olivier Awards, the West End's equivalent of Broadway's Tonys, were announced today. Three musicals--Pacific Overtures (a transfer of a production that originated at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Ragtime and Jerry Springer - The Opera--led the pack with eight nominations each. The nominated designers featured some London mainstays as well as a few US faces. Interestingly, there are only three nominees each in the set and lighting categories, but four in costume and sound.
